End-to-End Service Monitoring

The Need for an Integrated Solution

Today, monitoring tools that allow for close monitoring of infrastructure are essential to meet demand. Solutions that work well and are suitable for the purpose within the existing infrastructure face the need for an integrated perspective on infrastructure and application.

There are many challenges related to current monitoring software, and the interaction of these challenges constitutes an obstacle.

Challenges

To discuss some of the challenges:

One of the biggest challenges lies in data visualization. Correlation across network, application, database, storage, server, and virtualization infrastructure is impossible in a typical architecture with multiple monitoring tools within an organization.

Usability and user experience are another challenge encountered when using existing monitoring tools. The presence of numerous pieces of equipment, metrics, and dashboards makes it difficult to centralize disorganized or dynamic equipment into a single system. Furthermore, they are not easy to install and may not have a decentralized architecture. This eliminates the flexibility to progressively add or remove all monitored applications and equipment. This is highly inefficient considering the new generation of elastic structures.

Ability to Run Queries on the Same Time Series

In addition to the challenges we mentioned, we can also say that the inability to run queries on the same time series is a problem. The inability to monitor equipment such as databases, storage, and virtualization, both statically and dynamically, affects proactive management or monitoring stemming from this problem.

In this case, the fundamental principle of the future architecture is flexibility and scalability.

This architecture can be based on five critical pillars: data collection (manual, automatic, and flexible API support), visualization, alerts/notifications, and manual or dynamic export. Many of the challenges mentioned earlier are addressed with this approach and should be present in an ideal next-generation monitoring tool.

At this point, with the solutions we offer and the consulting we provide in the end-to-end monitoring step of the service infrastructure, we support the right investment, the right monitoring, and the right measurement.
